A spending plan that would terminate the longest government shutdown in the nation's history is reaching the House of Representatives for a decisive ballot on Wednesday.

On the sixth week of the legislative standoff, lawmakers are coming back to Washington to vote on whether to endorse a Senate package that would fund federal agencies for the next eight weeks.

Majority party officials stated assurance the funding measure would pass through the House of Representatives, notwithstanding their narrow majority. But top Democrats promised to vote against it.

Minority Position

And once the shutdown is over, funding legislators have only 60 days to prevent the subsequent closure.

Federal appropriations would next be due to expire on January 30th.
