Jon Ruben admitted 17 offences at Leicester Crown Court on Friday

A person who contaminated candy with sedative and provided them to minors at a summer camp in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual crimes against two young males both nine and 10.

The accused was detained after eight minors and an older person experienced illness at the facility in the summer month.

The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he appeared at the judicial center on Friday.

Yet, he disputed one particular crime he was charged with, which was against a nine-year-old child.

The accused was remanded in custody prior to a additional proceeding on 28 November.

'Treat game'

Mary Prior KC, presenting evidence, described Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.

She said his targets were under-privileged children who were staying at a youth camp which he operated.

Ruben engaged in a "treat game" with the minors, the legal counsel stated, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to ingest treats "as fast as possible".

She informed the proceedings Ruben had engaged in this activity with the boys "over an extended period", and minors had earlier experienced illness the following morning.

She stated the defendant had been able to explain this over a long period as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepson had suspicions in recently.

Mrs Prior KC added: "In the summer" his family member had concerns about what was going on, justifiably.

"They resolved" to investigate in the individual's items."

Mrs Prior KC stated items including lubricant, Vaseline and injection devices were located, and his family member notified the police about his worries.

She explained Ruben continued to engage in the "candy game" with six boys that time - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the subsequent day.

"Authorities" had not gone out by that stage," she continued.

The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, earlier informed that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the situation.

The legal representative said the youngsters were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson notified the law enforcement a second time.

She explained the man then engaged in the "sweet game" in a room of five children.
